What does a recruitment consultant do?
A recruitment consultant is the intermediary between organisations wishing to recruit (the client) and the individual seeking a career move or temporary assignment (the candidate).
The role of the Consultant is broadly to:
Identify and develop client business/relationships in a competitive environment.
Contribute to the attraction of candidates and maintain the candidate database.
Assess and respond to the needs of each particular client or assignment.
Source suitable candidates and brief them on the opportunities offered by the client.
Manage the process through interview to offer stage and beyond.
Offer CV, interview and general career advice.
This will involve:
Promoting the services of Stelfox Recruitment and yourself to clients, initially by telephone and then by way of a formal meeting.
Forging long-term relationships resulting in repeat business and client/candidate loyalty.
Interviewing candidates, either on a general basis, with a specific assignment in mind or from an advertised selection assignment.
Presenting suitable candidates to clients by way of detailed CVs or assessments.
Ensuring peripheral arrangements such as interview times, dates, job descriptions etc. are in place and communicated to all relevant parties.
Providing a professional and consultative service to both clients and candidates based on your market and commercial awareness.
Working as an integral part of a team focussing in the broader day to day issues of business development, effective communication, systems & procedures, training and proactively maximising commercial performance.
Making maximum use of your time to achieve your individual and business potential through activity, energy, persistence, drive and motivation.
Is recruitment consultancy a "sales" job?
Yes - to the extent that you will be selling yourself and the services of Stelfox Recruitment to clients and candidates in what is an extremely competitive market. On this basis, business development skills are a pre-requisite in expanding your chosen market, the most successful recruitment consultants enjoy and relish the challenge of winning the business, loyalty and trust of candidates and clients alike.
Earning Potential
Over and above your basic salary, consultants have the ability to earn commission on all monies that they bill as well numerous bonuses. On Target Earnings for your first year will be in the region of £40,000.
Senior Consultants earn from £50,000 to £80,000 and some even higher. Your earning capability is directly related to your talent, work ethic and commitment, as we have no cap on commission there is no limit on earning as much as a Senior Consultant in your first year. Now that's a challenge!!!
